Dear Friends of the BDC,
I am thrilled to share exciting news from a very productive summer for our organization. We kicked off the season with our 2nd annual Beaufort Women in Tech Anniversary, celebrating the incredible contributions and achievements of women in the tech industry. This event was a testament to our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive tech community.
Building off this momentum, we are pleased to introduce two new board members and one new staff member to our team. Please join us in welcoming Amy Doerflinger, Gary Baldwin, and Jasmine Vargas. Their expertise and passion will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts and bring fresh perspectives to our initiatives. You can learn more about each of them in the newsletter below.
Speaking of changes to the board, we would also like to announce Rich Conte as our new Chair-Elect. Rich brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our mission, and we are excited to have him in this new leadership role. At the same time, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our outgoing Chair, Melissa Venable, for her exceptional leadership and contributions over the past three years. Melissa's guidance has been instrumental in shaping the BDC, and we are deeply grateful for her service.
Perhaps the most significant development this summer is the launch of our charitable foundation, Beaufort Digital Corridor Foundation. The Beaufort Digital Corridor Foundation (BDCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing digital literacy and fostering economic empowerment through education and talent development. Our mission is to provide accessible educational pathways and opportunities for individuals to upskill and thrive in high-wage tech jobs, empowering individuals from all backgrounds to pursue careers in technology. By fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, we aim to drive innovation and prosperity in the Beaufort community. Read the full press release here.
As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we need your support. We have set an initial fundraising goal of $10,000 to kickstart our programs and initiatives. Your generous contribution will play a vital role in making our vision a reality. Be one of our first donors and help us create a more inclusive and prosperous economy for everyone in Beaufort.
To donate, please visit https://givebutter.com/bdcfoundation. Your support will make a significant impact on the lives of many aspiring tech professionals in our community.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in the mission of the Beaufort Digital Corridor. Together, we can drive innovation, foster diversity, and create lasting economic growth.
Cheers,
Jess O'Brien
